Cymbals Print
Who here has Finale Print-Music 2007? I need help!?

I want to extract the percussion section of my piece:

Xylophone
Side Drum
Bass Drum
Cymbals

I want the percussion be extracted in a group but Finale Print-Music won't let me do that. When I click Extract Parts a window comes up and says:

Select each staff and group you want to extract into it's own Print-Music

There are 2 boxes. One says:

Staves:
Clarinet
Bassoon
Trumpet
Trombone
Violin
Double Bass
Xylophone
Side Drum
Bass Drum
Cymbals

The box next to it says:

Groups:
[Group 1]
[Group 2]
[Group 3]
[Group 4]

How can I get the percussion into one group?

Help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

RTFM - I opened the Index, and looked under GROUPS. I am using Finale - I do not know if it is the same in what YOU are doing. You need to identify the instruments in a group, with a bracket. When you Extract Parts, you get what you want. It worked for me.

• Click the Staff Tool s. The Staff Menu appears.
• Select all the staves you want included in the group, then choose Add Group and Bracket
from the Staff Menu. The Group Attributes dialog box appears.
• Select a staff from the Staff and Through drop-down lists to set the starting and ending
staves for the group. All staves in between will also be part of the group.
• Use the settings in the Group Attributes dialog box to set the group name, bracket, and
barline for the new group. For more information, see BARLINES, BRACKETS: STAVES, and
GROUP ATTRIBUTES DIALOG BOX.
• Click OK to confirm your changes and return to the score.

Added - It is possible that if you HAVE bracketed all the percussion together, that they are in fact, one of the groups. You will not know until you extract parts - you can always delete your mistakes.
