If ever a Shark Regiment Band member believed that the year in band ended after the last football game was won or lost, they would soon find out that this is very far from the truth.
The Shark Regiment Marching Band may " hang" up their uniforms, but they continue to work on a completely different style of music as the Shark Regiment Concert Band. It all starts with a few parades throughout the community in December and January, when they also perform in their Winter Concert. Students in the band then have an opportunity to perform and work alone for the District Solo and Ensemble event in February. Not long after that, the band prepares and performs in the Spring Musical in conjunction with the Atlantic High School Drama department. Immediately following that, they focus their efforts on the Florida Bandmasters Association adjudicated performance in March. A few weeks later, they get to work on the Lakeside Jazz Festival, and, of course, the end of the year overnight, out-of-state adjudicated band trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn. Finally, students again work on their own to put on the annual, and highly anticipated Spectrum Concert, which, at last, leads to the Band Banquet, followed by Graduation.
Students in the Concert Band are constantly on their toes (or at least tapping them), practicing so that they can perform to their highest abilities. The Shark Regiment Concert Band is one of great fun and pride, always working on something new and innovative, and always doing their best to become a " Superior" band.
